There's a great article in today's NYT about what is happening with the labor force in Kentucky coal country. We can't encourage you strongly enough to read it. "In Coal Country, The Mines Shut Down, The Women Went to Work, and The World Quietly Changed." It reads like a road map--or a prophecy--for Wyoming. If we're willing to read it and believe it.
Before we dig into it--plus our own thoughts on how best to apply the prescription it provides--we have to post (and parse) a particular quote because we're wondering whether it cuts to the heart of the anxiety about what (men fear) might be at stake in any move toward fairness.
“Women now, they got a little taste of freedom,” Ms. Bowling said. “Men has been able to do whatever the hell they want for so long while women has had to sit in a chair and keep their legs closed and be nice and polite. Now they don’t have to.”
