Update: Paycheck Fairness Act

H.R. 7 - Paycheck Fairness Act passed the House yesterday by a vote of 242-187. Unfortunately, Wyoming's lone Representative did not cast a vote in favor of the bill, in spite of its importance for Wyoming's economic development.

Though the bill is unlikely to see action in the GOP-controlled Senate - this is still seen as a partisan and gendered issue and not the economic issue that it is - we're encouraging you to call Sens. Enzi and Barasso and ask them to get it to the floor for a vote and vote YES!

Here is the information you need from AAUW to get you going. They have a great Two-Minute-Activist link that you can use to help you craft your call or email on this and other issues that impact women. They also have comprehensive information about women's economic security on their website. Be sure to check it out.

Bottom line: The gender pay gap is persistent and can only be addressed if women have the tools we need to challenge discrimination and employers have the incentives they need to comply with the law.

This is why we need Congress to pass H.R. 7 - Paycheck Fairness Act.
