More on Economic Security

A lot is happening to ensure economic security for women. From pay equity efforts to paid family leave to pregnancy accommodations, all of the efforts are designed to capitalize on the positive economic effect of women in the workplace.

For example, in Kentucky, Republican State Sen. Alice Forgy Kerr has pre-filed a 2019 bill seeking to clarify the proper procedures for making reasonable workplace accommodations for workers experiencing pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions.

According to an op-ed by Kent Oyler, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc., the city's chamber of commerce, "There’s a clear bottom line here: Kerr’s bill to support pregnant workers and new mothers is pro-business, pro-workforce legislation that will be good for our state’s economy."

Other states are also working to shore up women's contributions to local and state economies. Paid Leave US continues to work on behalf of families everywhere. And a recent study demonstrates that subsidized daycare can pay for itself.

We're all for policy solutions with women at the forefront that are steeped in data and benefit business, communities, and families--as well as Wyoming women.
